What does the word "relative" mean ?

I dont understand it and it seems to be coming up alot in my studies lately. Ive always thout the word meant "somewhat", since thats the only way ive ever used its adverb by saying things like "that concept is relatively flawed". Is that even right? Please can someone explain what relative means and please use examples
