Could humans have an extra sense?

Ok it was around 7 p.m. already dark out and I was going to get a drink. But as i entered the kitchen I just stopped. i was completely still and confused. I didn't do it consciously and it was really weird. I looked around and just barely could see my friend trying to get my attention. The window wasn't in my sight and it was too dark with the glare on the window for me have to seen him in my peripheral. What's your take on what happened?
