Where to go to school for video game design or animation?

am graduating this year and am still working at finding a college. I want to go into video game animation or design and have been trying to research schools. With all my Research the only schools i have been able to find are more vocational schools like the art institute or ITT tech. I told my sister about my plans to go to a school like this and she was really upset with me. (she just graduated with a masters degree in micro biology at Texas Tech). She thinks these schools are a joke and wants me to go to a normal university. I am looking into this program at the Art institute in Houston for media and animation and it sounds like a really good program. My sister just insists that its a waste of money and time and that the representatives are just trying to "sell" their school to me and that the promise of possible internships and connections to industry professionals are just a slim chance for me. What i would like to know is anyone that may know a better school for me to go to to find this type of a degree or anyone that has been to this kind of school that could provide me with some insight as to what I should do.
