What was the purpose of the nazi-soviet non aggression pact?

The purpose was that Nazi Germany did not want to have to face a two front war Western Europe on one front and the Russians on the other. They formed this pact in order to make sure that the Russian's did not intervene with Germany's plans. The Soviets agreed because they needed more time to industrialize and militarize in order to prepare for what they felt was only a matter of time before they were attack by Germany.
